  • 1 tsp of olive oil.
  • 1 small red onion, chopped into small pieces.
  • 1 tsp of ginger + finely chopped garlic.
  • 1 bag of Ridetti refried beans (227g).
  • 1/2 cup of flour.
  • 1/2 cup of bread crumbs.
  • 1/2 cup of oatmeal.
  • 1 tsp of red chili powder.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Heat up the oil in a frying pan; add the onions and cook until very golden.
  • Add the ginger + garlic and cook for another minute. Turn off the heat and let cool.
  • In a big bowl, combine the beans, flour, oatmeal, bread crumbs, red chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Add the mix of onion and mix well until it holds together when squeezed.
  • Divide the mix into 6 little cakes of the same size.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat, place the cakes in it, and cook undisturbed for about 3 – 4 minutes. Flip and cook on the other side until a golden crust forms on both sides.
  • Enjoy with your favorite bread!
